Andreas 1 Ascension Day (AIAD) - Sunday 15, March 2020

Salutation: To the Zion Apostolic Faith Mission Church (ZAFMC) Family and Our Wider Community of Service. Greetings to you all in the Name and Love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. May God bless you in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Introduction: The Legacy of a Legendary Man of God - Founder & First Archbishop of ZAFMC; His Grace Andreas (May His soul rest in Eternal Peace of God). ZAFMC is now an International Christian Faith-Based Church Organization founded by Andreas Shoko in 1923.

Background: During our 2018 AGM at the HQ one of the resolutions noted that ZAFMC will celebrate three Andreas Commemoration Days annually as follows. Firstly, The Founder & First Archbishop; Andreas I (Joni Pedzisai Chinatsira Shoko) on the 15th day of March to commemorate the ascension of His Grace. Secondly, The First Successor & Second Archbishop; Andreas II, (Dorias Pedzisayi) ascension on the 29th of September. Thirdly, The Second Successor & Third Archbishop; Andreas III (Ezra DAP Pedzisai) anointing and appointing day, on the 29th of May. I shall dwell on the first and imminent day of celebration; Andreas I Ascension Day (AIAD)-2020 as detailed below.

Commemoration: This is an important moment of ZAFMC as we look back since 1923, on its foundations grounded on the Solid Rock Foundation; Jesus Christ. We examine our past, present life and assess our behaviour and conduct as Christians, evaluating ourselves and taking stock of our own actions, words and life within a wider Christian and non-Christian community of local and international spatial scale. We also try to redirect our ways towards the future in a faithful manner as we thrive and try to continue to live a life of holiness, sanctity and purity. The planting and expansion of ZAFMC has not been without its own challenges but our founding fathers remained faithful to the principle and practice of their calling, to serve God in humility, love and sacrificing of humane pleasures of this world at the expense of suffering and persecution. The ‘small challenges’ we face today are not even a drop to the long-suffering our founding fathers at the exposure of the devil’s machinations and vehicles of torcher and pain-infliction. They were recklessly battered, arrested, molested, and humiliated in both public and private places but they did not look-back.
In 1923, Andreas Shoko, settled at Goonono in Chief Gororo Area, Chivi District of the then Fort Victoria, (now Masvingo Province). His Grace, the Servant of God, began his ministry in a predominantly foreign missionary-dominated country, preaching the Word of God, founding this Great Church and planting the seed of the Word of the Promise, of our future heavenly residence upon completing this Earth mission thriving to live a life of “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance,” (Galatians 6: 22-23) and observing all commandments that is pleasing to our Creator. To the then Rhodesians of Black race the fulfilment of the promise proclaimed by God on Deuteronomy (18: 18) saying, “I will raise them a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.” Since 1923, as Andreas started prophesying, preaching, teaching and healing the sick (Luke 9: 2) in homes, schools, clinics, prisons, the Holy Spirit inspired Word of God, ZAFMC has been preaching the Word of God, performing various miracles that converted individuals (great and small), families, clans etc, that edified the Word and Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, praying for the healing and rehabilitation of the sick in homes and hospitals, and teaching that helped rehabilitation of prison inmates, casting out the demons, evil and avenging spirits, empowering the spiritually weak, and delivering the Word of Prophecy. As the Church grew in numbers, the message spread with followers and believers from the rural to urban centres, across the provinces and now across national boundaries. At present, the following additional structures have been instituted to complement the Main Line Ministry and further largely the community responsibility sections.

Ministries: The organisation, has been involved in distribution of basic needs to deserving community members including paying school fees to orphans, food and clothes distribution, reassurance of a life of hope to the bereaved and developing infrastructure that has helped the wider community in general. Most of the contribution of ZAFMC is now enshrined in the various departments including Ministry of Infrastructural Development and Projects (MIDP) headed by Director HP. G. Magutakuona and Deputy Director by Minister K. Moyo that is into building of infrastructures such as churches, schools, homes and universities in the future for the poor. The Ministry of Education Expansion and Life Skills is an empowerment of youth and adults headed by Director Pastor Romeo Chibharo Deputy Director by Pastor Edfree January with the building of schools crèches, colleges and universities in collaboration with MIDP. The Ministry of Welfare and Social Services by N. Mhande Deputy Director by Pastor Mandaza that is into works of love and charity, expressing the social moral and spiritual obligations of the church in the social responsibility as we share available resources within and also and outside the entire church organisation. The Ministry of Praise and Worship Services is headed by Director Priest Phillip Mureba which leads in the Passover, Memorial, Marriage and other services at and during our various gatherings and champions a brass band that is involved in various community performances. The Ministry of Health and Wellness under Director Dr. Hamadziripi Dube that ensures dental, mental and physiological health and cleanliness and sound state of mind accepting each and everyone in our health condition without discrimination. The Ministry of Security, Safety, Order and Protocols is under the leadership of the Director HP. Johane J. Mazvihwa. The ministry of ICT & research supports all technology related aspects of the church and its being led by Mr S Dzipai.The International Committee that oversees the entire ZAFMC activities is championed by Chairman, Pastor Shadreck Gonanyika, and Deputy Chairman Minister Tavona Zhou, Treasurer Pastor Freedmore Magomana, Secretary Pastor Edfree January, Vice Secretary Minister Sam Mubheji, Committee: Members Pastor Chawatama, Minister Maride, Pastor Hisman Mashavira and Minister Kailos Moyo.

Calling: I am therefore humbly and kindly praying that all ZAFMC members live a life deserving of a Christian, worth of the calling that we received from God, The Father through our Saviour, Lord Jesus Christ, through his precious blood at Calvary, a powerful message we received from the Man of God, Andreas I. As ZAFMC, I am inviting every Church members to examine his/her ways as Apostle Paul indicated to the Galatians (6: 4), “But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another” and try as much as we can to live a life that pleases God our Creator. Let us all live in the standard as defined in the Word of God where in Galatians (5: 19-21) we are encouraged to lay aside all works of the flesh and thus …. “bear the fruit of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance….” (Galatians 5: 22 - 23) which no law prohibits. We acknowledge that all women/men are created in the image of God hence not to be discriminated on any basis. Our vision as ZAFMC, is to preach the Word of God as the Lord commissioned His Disciples in Matthew (28: 19); “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: ....” and much more as Paul charged Timothy, … “preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine”(2 Timothy 4: 2). We have to continue and complete to nourish this Church and generation on the “sincere milk of the word” (1 Peter 2: 2) of God, that enables spiritual growth. We are destined to lead in the spreading of the Word of God, in the Ministry of the Word of God, to execute the works of the promised Comforter, The Holy Spirit by His grace, as in John (14: 16) “ I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he might abide with you forever…..” We therefore develop infrastructure that benefit both the Church, a system that caters for the welfare and well-being of the wider community, extending a helping-hand in community social responsibility by way of works of charity and serving community. We thrive to make ZAFMC more relevant and appeal more to the spiritual, emotional, physical and social lives of the Christian as an important member of the diverse community.

Appeal: We are also appealing to the wider Christian and non-Christian Community to preach the Word of God, to sow the seed of Love of God. In John (13: 34-35) The Lord Jesus commanded his disciples in a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them and immediately qualified that, that love was the brand of true discipleship to him. In James (2: 8) scripture is quoted in scripture, “However, if you fulfil the royal law according to Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” you do well.” The same applies to us today as his brethren. “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God” (1 John 4: 7) and shape this world into a better place. If we join hands against demonic repression, all forms of segregation, hate, malice, and instead ignite or rekindle the ‘fire of love of our neigbours as we love ourselves, the Lord our God will continue to dwell in us and we bless the world in a more positive way. This world is suffering from poverty and gross deprivation in a world full of resources, selfish motivations accelerated by greed and selfishness at the expense of unity that can empower all of us from vice; disasters and disease, malnourishment and the depravity in a world of plenty with others living in haste and waste. If we live in His love and fulfil His promise upon calling us, we shall be future residence of the Kingdom of Heaven as promised in His Word (John 14: 1-4). Let us keep his commandments and merit his grace as we accomplish this assignment. May God bless us as we partake in the ministry and spread his good news and love.

Conclusion: ZAFMC, we may as well rejoice as the 70 evangelists/disciples sent in pairs returned claiming that the sick were healed, demons cast out, lame walked, blind saw, deaf and dump talked and could hear and all sorts of miracles performed. The Lord exhorted that the joy of a Christian is when their names were written in Heaven (Luke 10: 20) which is also noted as in the Book of Life (Revelations 3: 5). In Matthew (25: 12), The Lord refused to recognize those five ‘foolish virgins.’ If we do not practically perform, the works of love there is no Heavenly reward (Matthew 25: 41-46). James (2: 14-26) challenges us to prove our faith by practically demonstrating it through meeting the basic needs (clothes, food, etc.) of our brethren in love, and cites Abraham, our Father of Faith. Clearly, it is not only the demonstration of power, but also the practical faith that makes us children of God and heirs in Heavenly Kingdom. Notably, the punishment for disobedience to the Gospel is outlined in Revelations (20: 15), “If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.” When all persons come before the Judgement Seat, those whose names are listed in the Book of Life are ushered into the Kingdom of Heaven (Revelations Chapters 21 and 22). MESSAGE FROM THE BISHOP’S DESK (29-9-2015)

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am blessed to learn of your fervent desire to light the fire of God. James 5:16 says; "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much". First I would like to say as Paul said to Timothy (2 Timothy 2:7) "Consider what I say ; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things" Children of God, as Paul exhorts Timothy (2 Timothy 4:2) " Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and doctrine". May God bless you richly in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen


2015 EASTER MESSAGE

The Year of the Restoration of Zion Apostolic Faith Mission Church

Introduction:

This is a script extracted from parts of the Easter 2015 conference at ZAFMC by the Anointed Bishop Andreas III (Ezra Pedzisai) that was held from Friday the 3rd through Sunday the 5th of April 2015. Due to the length of the message, it was broken into manageable parts as presented below. Enjoy the reading and follow through the Word of God from the Anointed Man of God. Readings from The Book of The Prophet Joel

The Prophet Joel, the son of Pethuel (Joel 1: 1) pronounces the Word of God, “What the gazam-locust left, arbeh-locust consumed, what the arbeh-locust left , the yeleq-locust consumed, and what the yeleq-locust left, the hasil-locust consumed!” (Joel 1: 4). This scripture reading shows seemingly one curse falling upon one people (Israel and here representing Christians). It is an alarm blown to the children of Israel. “Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm signal on my holy mountain!” (Joel 2: 1a, b). The prophet reiterates the same; “Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.” (Joel 2: 15). It appears wholesomely to be one curse, because it is on ‘destruction’ by one type of beast, ‘locust’. (Joel 2: 15). This message is from God to His beloved people, the Israelites, through His prophet, Joel. It is a prophecy, to four subsequent generations of one people; a) elders, b) children, c) their children’s children, and d) their children’s grandchildren (verses 2 and 3). Check here Church of God, the generations are four and the locust categories are also four types. Why? Obviously that is not coincidence. Each generation was going to suffer in a unique way, but each time, as the LORD got angrier, the suffering also intensified.One curse is coming after another, four different ‘great armies’ as the LORD says later (Chapter 2: 25c). The destruction is coming and intensifying from mild, to bad, through worse, and to the worst. Four different levels of destruction, representing four curses.

The people are called to repentance. And after a call for lamentation and fasting (1: 8 - 20, Chapter 2: 1- 11), is an appeal for repentance (Chapter 2: 12 - 17), and the LORD’s response (Verse 18 - 27) is, being zealous for His land and His people. The pronouncement of the restoration is the ensuring of an enduring blessing upon Israel. Then the restoration, follows on Joel (2: 25-26); “I will make up for the years that the arbeh-locust consumed your crops- the yeleq locust, the hasil-locust, and the gazam-locust- my great army that I sent against you. You will have plenty to eat, and your hunger will be fully satisfied; you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has acted wondrously in your behalf. My people will never again be put to shame.” Look at how God deals with the plague. The last and the most severe is the very first one that He resolves. Here God starts with the most destructive and the restoration considers even all the times of deprivation. Our God compensates for them, so even that which the devil stole from us God fully restores. Glory be to our faithful Lord God of abundant provision.
Down-pouring of the Spirit of God is the top–up to the restoration. God first restores and then abundantly supplies the very necessary power, the Holy Spirit. After which, an outpouring of the Spirit of God is poured on all kinds of people. Note that the Spirit of God is the Holy Spirit. Outpouring of the Spirit of God follows on Joel (2: 28 – 29); “After all this, I will pour out my Spirit on all kinds of people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your elderly will have revelatory visions. Even on male and female servants I will pour out my Spirit in those days.” This is a pronouncement of blessing from God.

Background

Our above scripture readings are from the book of Joel, a prophet of repentance and restoration of Israel. In Numbers (12: 6); The LORD said, “Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known to him in a vision; I will speak with him in a dream.” God spoke to prophets, and even in the present day, He speaks to them through visions, dreams, among others. As outlined in Deuteronomy (18: 15) the word of God says; “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you - from your fellow Israelites; you must listen to him.” God promises that He will raise a prophet for them from amongst their fellow Israelites. “I will put my words in his mouth and he will speak to them whatever I command.” (Deuteronomy 18: 18). Notice that God repeats the same and adds that He (The LORD) will put his words in the mouth of the prophet who will speak the message (of God) to the Israelites. The prophet is clearly a mouthpiece of the LORD our God. All those who are loyal and believe in God are commanded to listen to what the prophet says as the above scripture suggests plainly. The main theme here is of course, restoration, but, obviously taking place after the nation repented from the bad ways and submitting to the LORD God of Israel who delivered them from the powerful hand of Egypt, a political superpower of that moment.
Restoration is relevant to our past and present, and even our future as the Church constituting the Body of Christ. We undertook to pursue this theme in the sense that God restored us; Zion Apostolic Faith Mission Church (ZAFMC); the rightful heirs. We underwent severe disruption of our access to the ZAFMC Shrine as a result of the influence of external leadership who infiltrated our Church. The external characters came to impose unto us a rejected and disinherited person as the new leader despite strong and express opposition by the late Man of God, Archbishop Dorius Pedzisayi Pedzisayi Shoko (Andreas II - The Ordained) who passed on in October 2012.

In Joel (1: 4), there is plague after plague and each time, a more devastating type of swarm is coming to destroy even further than the damage instilled by the earlier swarm. The last group is the most destructive, going even to consume the roots of the crops. But after Israel repents, I am very happy, with God’s promise of restoration. The message comes at the very rightful moment when the suffering and troubles that the Church had undergone in the turbulent past three years are now over. The joy of the children of Israel when they returned to Jerusalem after some years of captivity is now history and a thing of the past. This was the celebration spirit that overwhelmed the Church as we all went towards Jerusalem. The times of trials and tribulations were now over. The Church was brought before several if not all levels of jurisdiction in the country and, thank the LORD, we have always been victorious.
Some ‘external leaders’with conflict of interest, came and illegally installed, their so stage-managed successor using what they claimed as their ‘spiritual obligation.’This move was, of course, against the (express and written) will and public pronounced prophecy of the late Andreas II - The Anointed. They used seals and certificates, enforcing the signing of oaths and licenses in a bid to mislead some of the many Churches, into believing that whatever was being done was divine and eternal in existence, notwithstanding the instructions they should have gotten from the faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. These persons fraudulently installed their own choice. ZAFMC ardently said NO. The courts of law had to stop these leaders but adamantly, they continue to raise their voices of their superiority over the Church of God, and they are not very much worried about how they are supposed to be accountable to God upon their misleading behaviour in the Church. These external leaders’ unbecoming behaviour was even noted in the courts of law especially for their factual inconsistences and economy with plain truth in their witnessing and swearing.

ZAFMC was dragged twice to the chief, four times to the magistrate and twice to the high court. In all these cases we have been pronounced the rightful heirs to the church property but defiantly, there is vehement opposition to these jurisdictions. The scripture says “Whenever they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say, for what you should say will be given to you at that time.” (Matthew 10: 19). So we were not afraid and our witnessing was faultless. On the contrary, in the first high court case, the honourable judge observed that our detractors did not present themselves as truthful and credible, but were witnesses who were very economic with the truth, and so on and so forth. The Church’stop council, with their constitutional right, had initially presented the new leadership, but the same external forces defied the move. The late Man of God had also pronounced in public the same but external characters came in to advance their own self interests. The craftiness of the devil could not prevail to stop us from worshipping the LORD our God. Let me rest this case for now and focus on the theme of the feast. Restoration. Hallelujah to our God of restoration.
God is restoring the spiritual, economic and material. God cares for His beloved children. When the Children of Israel were coming back from exile (Babylon), they brought with them silver utensils, gold, equipment, animalsand other expensive gifts (Ezra 1: 6 - 11; 5: 3). These were going to be fashioned into decorating and equipping the House of God, at Jerusalem. We were also sent out of ‘Jerusalem’, like the captives into ‘Babylon’ but now we are back. We know our Church properties scattered all over the country, but I am very happy because our God has a way to recover what is His. For instance, there is furniture, staff, and several other properties confiscated by those who, “… came to Jerusalem and took her king and her officials prisoner and brought them to Jerusalem.” (Ezekiel 17: 12c - 14). We are back to rebuild Jerusalem. We are the ‘Ezra’ of this generation.

The biblical Ezra has scriptural significance. He was a Jewish priest and scribe of the fifth century sent by the Persian King to restore Jewish law and worship in Jerusalem [Ezra] who wrote the 15th book of the Hebrew Tanakh (Advanced English Dictionary). He was an influential leader. His book in the Old Testament tells a story of a rabbi’s efforts in fifth century to reconstitute Jewish law and worship in Jerusalem after Babylonian captivity (Advanced English Dictionary). A priest signifies the cleansing of Israel. Scripture highlights the duties of priests to include sacrificing on behalf of the children of Israel so that they are forgiven (atonement) so that they enjoy a safe and sound relationship with God (Leviticus 16: 16, Joel 2: 17). Priesthood is an important office in the house of God. The book of Leviticus is full of the definition of roles, duties, dress code and character of priests as the office of God. Examples of biblical priests include Aaron, Eleazar, Eli, Ahimelech, Abiathar, Zadok, Jehoiada, just to name but a few.And he was also a scribe, who was responsible for writing the Word of God to be read to the children of Israel. So the priesthood and scribe roles completed the communication between God and His people. The name Ezra (meaning help, aide) is derived etymologically from Hebrew term meaning ‘Godhelps’, Advanced English Dictionary). This name shows that the Israelites depend on the help from God. If one is crying for help, they expect an answer and that is why Ezra was there. He would carry the burdens of the Israelites to God who in turn replied them. Whatever righteous the children of Israel were crying about, God would answer them through that person. Names are also prophetic and significant. Check of the meaning of the name James. Just another name means one who uproots or a supplanter, (Dictionary of the Bible). There are also other offices established by God such as prophets.

Prophecy is only installed by God. The first and second books of Kings have prophets in Israel including Nathan, Ahijah, Shemaiah, Jehu, Elijah and Elisha, in addition to the 15 prophets whose prophecy were recorded as Books from Isaiah through Malachi. Others were only scribes, for instance, the books of second Samuel, first and second Kings, first and second Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah have Seraiah (2Samuel, 8:17), Sheva (2Samuel 20: 25), Shebna (2Kings 18: 18), Shaphan (2Kings 22:3), Shavsha (1Chronicles 18: 16), Shemaiah (1Chronicles 24: 6), Jeiel (2Chronicles 26: 11) and Shimshai (Ezra 4: 8) to mention but a few.
Ezra was both a rare and unique character who was fervent for the things of God hence Nehemiah (8: 9; 12: 36) says “… Ezra the priestly scribe.” It becomes two-way communication.

We are also the Nehemiah of this generation and should therefore focus on rebuilding the city of God, Jerusalem, against all adversities. We are tasked and expected to reinvigorate our faith and reaffirm our confidence, rekindle or reignite our dying faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless. When the Israelites came back from Eqypt, generosity overwhelmed the Egyptians and they freely gave Israelites many precious gifts including silver and gold (Exodus 12: 35 – 36). The same happened when the Israelites returned from Babylon, the generosity gesture is also repeated.The restoration of God comes at the expense even of the former colonisers. This is typical homework for those fighting the will of God. When Jesus gets to Jordan for baptism, the Word of God in the clouds, expresses the ‘will of God’ when He pronounces that, “This is my one dear Son, in him I take great delight.” (Matthew 3: 17b). Note here the use of the positive terms, ‘beloved’ and ‘well pleased’ and not the other way round. A son who displeases his father is cursed and a disgrace. The elevation of a disobedient son to the helm of ZAFMC, is like installation of either the disobedient Absalom or Adonia contrary to the will of King David. God forbid.
